According to Texas scrap laws, dealers must maintain a record of transactions for three years that must include a photographs of the seller, the material and the seller's vehicle, a copy of the seller's driver's license and a copy of the seller's fingerprint.Additionally, a three-day tag-and-hold policy is in effect, which can be extended to 60 days when law enforcement suspects the purchase of materials is unlawful. Texas scrap recyclers and second hand dealers are required to report information on their transactions electronically to the state within two days.
