PopScrap - Compliance Made Simple

Every 12months, scrap metal dealers in the state of Georgia must register with the sheriffs department in the county in which the secondary metal recyeler is located. The purchase of metal materials Is prohibited between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Buyers are required to record the make, model, state of issue and license plate number of the seller's vehicle used to transport scrap metal, though it is permissible to purchase scrap from a person not in a vehicle. A digital photo or video of the material being purchased, induding a time stamp, the weight and a description of material and contact information is required. A recognizable image of the seller along with a signed statement indicating he 0r she has not been convicted of metals theft must be retained by the scrap dealer.
