California scrap yards and recyclers must have their purchaser data available to law enforcement through electronic submission at any time. Customers must provide a valid form of ID, a certificate of ownership, fingerprint, signature, among others. There is a delay in payment necessary for all regulated scrap metals such as aluminum and copper.
If you have questions, please contact our California scrap and recycling compliance specialist with PopScrap.com by filling out our online form or calling 888-440-8858. Click HERE to find out if you are fully compliant.
Payment methods are check or cash. Either cash or check can be collected by the seller on or after the third business day following the date of sale. The check may also be mailed to the seller at the address provided. Additional requirements apply. Any required report shall be transmitted electronically beginning 12 months after the Department of Justice and local law enforcement agencies develop a standard format to be used statewide to transmit the report.
